New Immunization Requirements for 9th – 12th Graders
This year, there is a new immunization requirement effecting 9th-12th grade students. Students are now required to show proof of 2-doses of Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, or proof of chickenpox disease from your provider. If you are not sure if your high school student has received 2-doses of the varicella vaccine, please call our office and speak with a nurse, view your child’s immunization history in the YourAccess Patient Portal or sign-up and view your child’s immunization records through the Washington State Department of Health’s MyIR site. If you think your child was examined by a Woodcreek physician and received a diagnosis of chickenpox, call and speak with a nurse to request a letter to take to your school.
The Back-to-School season is a very busy time for your pediatrician and it is not uncommon for schedules to fill up. We understand that scheduling may be difficult – especially last minute; we recommended scheduling as early as possible. To help, here are a few options if you have difficulty scheduling with your pediatrician:
- Sports Physicals in Convenience Care
If your child is looking to play sports, you can walk-in to a Woodcreek Convenience Care clinic and receive a Sports Physical. Please note that Sports Physicals performed in Woodcreek Convenience Care cannot be billed to your insurance; we charge $45 at the time of service. At this visit we can also administer any vaccinations your child may need. However, this is not a full Well Child Visit – that will have to be scheduled for a later time.
- Concussion Screening in Convenience Care
If your child needs a concussion screening, we do offer walk-in concussion screenings. This also cannot be billed to your insurance and we charge $35 at the time of service. This is not included in the walk-in sports physical nor is it included in a well child visit. We will offer any immunizations that your child may need during this visit.
- Nurse Visits
At a “Nurse Visit” your child will only receive their vaccinations. When scheduling a Nurse Visit, we will look to see if you are caught up on your Annual Well Child Exams. Nurse Visit appointments are only available for children who are caught up, or have a Well Child Visit scheduled.
- Walk-In Immunization Visits (Sunrise Convenience Care Clinic Only)
We are now offering walk-in shot visits through the Sunrise Convenience Care Clinic 7 days per week. There may be extended wait times depending on how many patients are waiting to see providers in the Convenience Care. Our sick, injured, and emergency patients will be given priority. Walk-in Immunization Visits are only available for children who are caught up, or have a Well Child Visit scheduled. If your child is due for a Well Child Visit, our staff will assist you in scheduling that appointment with your Pediatrician upon check-in.
